Researchers have confirmed what every good teacher already knows:
Genius is the product of hard work, not just talent: the more you practice (if your practice is perfect) the more "ingenious" you become!

The key to success--in school, in the arts, in sports, and in your career--is mastering the core skills and knowledge specific to each domain. And the key to this mastery is deliberate, intelligent practice: perfect practice.
Old-style drills and exercises ("imperfect practice": unsystematic & unguided) lead either to mistakes that become habits, or to memorization, regurgitation, and forgetting. Old-style “learning” software either wastes students' precious practice time on "edu-tainment" games that produce no results, or numbs them with glorified index cards so that they quickly log-off.
Only perfect practice will lead to mastery and long-term retention. And only hours and hours of it (10,000 to be a concert pianist, e.g.) will lead to the automaticity, fluency, or intutitions necessary to be a top performer in any field: an expert or "genius."
To avoid wasting you time on exercises that produce no results a child needs to follow a research-based "Prepared Path to Excellence" so that every minute spent he or she spends"playing" is time spent learning-- practice that advances her skills, understanding, and long-term retention.
To have any hope of reaching the "10,000 Hours of practice"--the genius mark in any field: a child must find a way to fall in love with practice, so that he cannot wait to get back to it every day.
